My top 10 personal favorite classic rock bands

Led Zeppelin

You can't argue with the screaming guitar of Jimmy Page, and the scorching vocals of Robert Plant. With a tracklist that includes Stairway, D'yer Maker, Black Dog, Heartbreaker, Communication Breakdown, The Lemon and Immigrant Songs, Whole Lotta Love, When The Levee Breaks, All of My Love, Trampled Under Foot, Kashmir, Houses of the Holy and did I mention STAIRWAY? The #1 freaking rock band of all time. P-E-R-I-O-D.

Dropkick Murphys

Don't argue with me. These guys were formed before the 21st century, that makes them classic. Why? State of Massachusetts, Famous for Nothing, Johnny I Hardly Knew Ya, I'm Shipping Up to Boston, Cadence to Arms, The Irish Drinking Song, (F)lannigan's Ball, The Gang's All Here, and the most amazing Red Sox anthem ever, Tessie. Their lead singer's (Al Barr) vocals will leave your throat hurting. Oh, and Scruffy Wallace plays bagpipes. Scruffy plus bagpipes = epic victory!

Boston

I love these guys for stuff other than their name. More Than A Feeling has been my favorite song forever; Peace of Mind, Walk On (plus Walk On Some More)and I Need You Love are some other good ones.

Metallica

The one and only metal band worth listening to. Kirk Hammett's solo on The Unforgiven III nearly had me in tears (jk people, jk). A few of their many accomplishments; The entire Death Magnetic album, Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, The Unforgiven I, II, and III, One, and a fantastic remake of the Irish bllad Whiskey in the Jar.

Jimi Hendrix

The one and only, ladies and gentlemen. The best guitar player to ever walk the earth.(and he was self-taught and lefty, mind you) Purple Haze, Foxy Lady, Fire, The Wind Cries Mary, Castles Made of Sand, Voodoo Child, Little Wing, and All Along The Watchtower (remake of Bob Dylan's; still amazing).

Aerosmith

They might've been on drugs, but they could freaking jam! Rag Doll, Love in an Elevator, Dream On, Sweet Emotion, Livin' On the Edge, Walk This Way, Same Old Song and Dance, Janie's Got a Gun, Just Push Play, Movin' Out, and freaking Dude (Looks Like A Lady). That's a pretty impressive resume, boys and girls.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Break my heart. Mostly mellow songs with sickly smooth solos got me deep. But mostly, it's the lyrics in songs like Refugee, The Waiting, Don't Come Around Here No More, Into the Great Wide Open, Runnin' Down a Dream, Free Fallin', I Won't Back Down, and of course Learning To Fly, that really makes me think. In a good way.

Pearl Jam

These guys are right in between metal and a sort of hard rock. There is plenty of head-bangage to be had in Go, Animal, Glorified G, Brain of J.,Dissident, and W.M.A. They have some good slow songs too, like Daughter and Last Kiss. And then there are the weird ones, specifically Bugs and (get ready for this) "Heyfoxymophandlemama, That's Me." Whew!

Guns n' Roses

These guys are lower on my list, but still one of my favorites. I like You Could Be Mine, Chinese Democracy, Better, I.R.S, Prostitute, Sweet Child O'Mine, and Welcome to the Jungle specifically.

Angel City Outcasts

I love these hard-rockers for two songs: Keep On and Youth Rebellion (revisited). *Squeal* Omg, the solos are sooo fricking amazing... Okay, that was weird...

Patrick Dwyer (honorable mention)

This guy is one of my best friends in the whole world, and I love his music. Mostly acoustic, though I haven't heard all of it. Jurassic Park Nerds unite!
